No, but Jonalyn can mock up different sizes and super-impose them onto a picture of your wall. This can show you the way different sizes will look on the spot “in situ” (in place). Jonalyn also offers free framing consulting on color, style and framing methods so you can be certain your painting will be displayed in a style that matches your home. This also gives you the certainty that you know the terminology to request at your frame shop or an online framing service Jonalyn can recommend.

While Jonalyn can paint in oils and pastels, she has spent 14 years mastering watercolor technique. This medium allows her to paint while sailing Lady Grey. Should you want a commission done in oil, Jonalyn has a short list of competent, professional artists she has worked with who she can recommend.
I start with on-site sketches in pencil, value studies (black and white), and plein air (outdoor painting) sketches whenever possible to properly study a subject. Then I do small color studies to be sure the color is communicating the feel of the place, person or object. I don’t want my watercolors to look like oil painting lite, so I focus on pushing those unique watercolor properties of wet-in-wet and scratching out to allow watercolor to show off its merits. Watercolor is essentially water plus pigment so it shines when used to paint watery elements such as clouds, seascapes, marine landscapes, lakes and ocean. When you use water to paint water you see the elements working in tandem to capture that ethereal, transparent light.

Jonalyn wants to help people celebrate their vulnerability. She does this through her published books, her speaking, her daily life on board Lady Grey and in her art.
It begins with the stories of our pain. Jonalyn knows how to bring out those stories so that you can see the connection between your deepest pain and your highest joys. She works carefully with her collectors to highlight their story in a piece of art.
Jonalyn always has a new series she is working on. Make an appointment (hello@jonalynfincher.com) with her to ask if she has availability in her next prototype for you.
I once painted a barn in a field when a woman jumped the fence to come talk with me. “Are you painting our barn?” she asked. “Because last year an artist painted my barn and I missed out on that painting. I don’t want to make that same mistake again.” She found out that my painting was only available through the Plein Air Art event in Steamboat Springs that weekend. She arrived opening night to purchase her barn. In a similar way, when a painting speaks to you, I want to do what I can to secure that emotion for you to experience again and again. That’s why I am happy to offer a layaway plan.
Jonalyn provides framing consultation for all her collectors free of charge. And a properly chosen mat and frame can dress up, modernize or dress down and relax any painting. Second, we all have places in our home where we want to remember our unique calling and taste. This can be as simple and private as your side of the bathroom sink or the wall inside your closet. Consider the importance of both a man cave and a she-shed in finding places that are uniquely your own.
