Acid-free print of original watercolor. Unframed.
This piece was originally painted for Dave and Hannah Fritzler. They generously provided permission for me to offer this print to you.
Artist’s Note: This one has a great backstory. Dave Fritzler found me on Etsy and bought a watercolor print. Then, he asked me about doing a piece for his anniversary. He wanted a scene where he and his wife fell in love: the little ski hut called Four Points. They watched the skiers form this cozy spot and the rest is history. I was honored to paint the moment. In this painting, I wanted to capture the large views on this highest chalet on the Mt. Werner ski mountain in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. You can see Sleeping Giant and the large Yampa Valley going off for miles. I liked the opportunity to include a crowd of skiers warming up with drinks and the sunshine. I also wanted to have that ski lift in operation on the right, showing that perpetual movement during any bluebird day. I think my favorite spot is the way the dark rooftop points to the deck space where the people (can you see the Fritzlers standing at the end of the balcony?) are enjoying the view. Some of my favorite memories of skiing Steamboat were taking a warm up break in this tiny chalet.
