“Market Day in Portsmouth”, New Hampshire

I did some plein air (outdoor) painting on the Market Day Saturday in Portsmouth, NH. I was wedged in between scaffolding and a steady stream of people. But I captured the light and the painting enough to use the notes to repaint this studio piece. I composted this pice so the church is lit and the whole light and feel of the sea air pushed you to keep looking further up. I also like how the clouds part at the steeple, making room while the commerce below never stops to look.
