The dappled sunlight and shade attracted me to this scene. These men were walking swiftly in downtown Charlotte, NC around the lunch hour.
I’ve included the photo of painting a small study in that green chair and the balcony shot in Miami, painting the larger piece. These give an idea of painting on the road: impromptu, mildly glamorous, make-shift and fun.
In this moment, I wanted it to look like the guys were late. The one fellow buttoning up his suit coat at the last minute. Somehow it’s easier to be late when you have a friend at your side, don’t you think?
