Cabin Getaway

The briskness of the wind, can you feel it as it blows storms into the town of Steamboat Springs. The cabin sits nestled into the protection of ancient aspen trees. On winter mornings like this, I know exactly what it is like to go outside and watch my boys’ cheeks glow into red as they play. We composed a new way to live here in these 100 acres of White Woods.

Notice how the peek of sunlight in the sky, together with the aspen, form the apex of a triangle. The triangle sides formed by the hills, and the dark-barked oak trees on the left and right. Triangles repeated in the A-frame peak of the cabin’s roof. The triangle forms the symbol of mountaintop experiences. And how appropriate for this, a scene from the mighty Rocky Mountains. But the scene is one of quiet and unexceptional greyness. And yet, if you have eyes to see, the greyness is the beauty here. What I’ve learned in White Woods, it could fill a book. But for now, I have a painting and a way to share them with you.

This painting is on display in a gallery in Milford, NH. Please allow extra time (1 week) for retrieval before shipping.
