“Good Parents”

Those of us with young children know the bewildering task of parenting during the COVID years. Which path does a good parent choose?

Masking, vaccinating, educating, sheltering, learning how to protect and guide and which doctors to trust, navigating the data and pandemic policies became a minefield. What would a good parent do? In the name of safety, so much appeared to threaten our children’s development. In the name of being together, we were separating them from their friends. In the name of saving lives, we put their futures at risk. And we were in charge, with as much grit and research as we could muster.

Do you remember how solitary the road felt?

Most importantly, do you remember the friendships and ideas that guided you to walk courageously, even if your heart thudded in your chest?

This painting was part of Jonalyn’s Saving Lives Gallery and Virtual Watercolor Event.

All Jonalyn’s paintings arrive with a living edge. You can frame her art by either covering or showcasing this raw edge. Jonalyn’s favorite way to frame her work is in a “float mount” showcasing this raw, living edge.
